A trade exhibition will be held in Malaysia in December this year, which is aimed at providing more trade opportunities for China, Malaysia and other ASEAN members, according to a networking session in Beijing on Wednesday.

The Malaysia-China Summit 2024 is scheduled for Dec 17-19 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

"The doors are wide open for Chinese industries to engage deeply with Malaysian counterparts. The priority sectors of our economy are ripe with opportunity, and through mutual collaboration, we can achieve even more remarkable growth," Malaysia's Ambassador to China Dato' Norman Muhamad said at the session.

The networking session was hosted by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, a Malaysian company offering trade and exhibition organization services, in association with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, Malaysia's national trade promotion agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, to promote the Malaysia-China Summit 2024 in Beijing on Wednesday.

As the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties approaches, the summit emerges as a significant platform, featuring the largest trade and investment exposition to date, complemented by a leadership conference.

Mr. Richard Teo, executive chairman of Qube Integrated Malaysia and organizing chairman of MCS 2024, expressed thanks for the positive response from Chinese companies, noting an uptick in inquiries and interest in participation following the networking session.

Under the theme "Prosperity Beyond 50" MCS 2024 aims to explore avenues for sustained growth across various sectors, including technology, mobility, and connectivity.

With aspirations to host 10,000 trade visitors and engage at least 500 exhibitors from China, Malaysia, and ASEAN nations, the summit anticipates facilitating meaningful exchanges and collaborations.

In his remarks, Dato' Norman Muhamad underscored the summit's role in bolstering bilateral ties. He said, "This summit is not just an event; it shines a light for the next 50 years of prosperity between Malaysia and China."

Mr. Niqman Rafaee M. Sahar, trade commissioner of MATRADE Beijing, emphasized the significance of the summit as a platform for exploring mutual interests and opportunities across sectors. He said, "Testament to our robust and growing partnership, China has remained Malaysia's largest trading partner for the past 15 consecutive years, representing 17.1 percent of Malaysia's total trade with the world," adding that as of February 2024, total trade volume between the two nations has reached an impressive $15.52 billion.

With strategic partnerships in place, including collaborations with the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and the Malaysia-China Business Council, MCS 2024 aims to contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of Malaysia-China relations.
